MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION - OKTA
Something you know, plus something you have.
What is MFA?
Multi-factor authentication (MFA), also known as 2-factor or 2-step authentication, is an electronic authentication method in which a user is granted access to services (A website or application).
MFA works by requiring you to provide two or more verification methods to prove who you are for a successful authentication. You can protect your CSPD account with something you know - your password, and something you have - your personal device.
MFA plays an essential role in securing your CSPD account. By setting up MFA, this enables users to have a second layer of protection/encryption on their account. CSPD will be using the following methods for MFA:
Okta Verify App
(SMS) Text Message
What is Okta?
CSPD uses Okta to provide SSO (Single Sign On) authentication to CSPD services via our Identity management (IDM), also known as identity and access management (IDAM) this ensures that the right users have the appropriate access to technology resources.
To learn more about our IDM system, please refer to the following Oscar page: https://oscarwiki.parra.catholic.edu.au/confluence/display/pss/Identity+and+Access+Management+Architecture
